Polk Bros Park
Open to the public year-round, Polk Bros Park is Navy Pier’s welcoming front lawn, a 13-acre green space that serves as the gateway to one of Chicago’s most beloved destinations. Whether relaxing by the fountain, catching a live performance, or simply taking in skyline views, this dynamic park offers something for everyone.
In 2014, the Polk family, legendary Chicago retailers and longtime supporters of community and culture, made a $20 million legacy gift to transform Navy Pier’s entryway into an engaging outdoor experience for all. Their generosity established Polk Bros Park, an active public space that brings together art, music, nature, and community. Many of the Pier’s free cultural programs continue to be supported by the Polk Bros Foundation, helping ensure that every visitor can enjoy accessible, inspiring experiences along the lakefront.
The Park Experience
Designed as a gathering place and a green oasis, Polk Bros Park connects the city and the lake through open lawns, performance spaces, and pathways that guide visitors to the Pier’s main attractions. The park includes landscaped gardens, shaded seating areas, and pedestrian-friendly walkways, making it an ideal starting point for any Navy Pier visit.
At its heart, the park’s signature fountain provides a year-round focal point, transforming from a lively splash pad in summer to a beautifully lit ice rink in winter.
