The Stories of Us

“The Stories of Us” is a national public art and civic storytelling initiative that uses large-scale sculptures — often called “Talking Drums” — to explore the history, culture, and lived experiences of communities across the United States.

Founded by Ashley Shaw Scott Adjaye and Dennis Marcus, the project is designed to make art a tool for dialogue, connection, and civic engagement. It invites people to reflect on the past, understand the present, and reimagine the future, especially in the context of the U.S. 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 2026.
