Navy Pier’s Signature Gala: “A Chicago ExPIERience”

Navy Pier’s Signature Gala “A Chicago ExPIERience” to Honor Mayor Richard M. Daley and Celebrate Three Decades of Transformation

A whimsical evening supporting “The People’s Pier” and its ongoing evolution as Chicago’s dynamic cultural landmark

CHICAGO — Navy Pier is proud to host its annual signature gala, “A Chicago ExPIERience,” on Thursday, October 30, celebrating the Pier’s transformation and visionary leadership over the past three decades. This year’s event will honor Mayor Richard M. Daley, whose 1995 redevelopment plan redefined Navy Pier as the centerpiece of Chicago’s cultural and civic life.

“Since the Pier’s redevelopment in 1995, we have spent the past 30 years delivering experiences that create opportunities for community building, education and cultural expression. As ‘Chicago’s front porch,’ we are honored to champion the enduring spirit of this extraordinary city and celebrate Chicago’s continuous evolution,” said Navy Pier President and CEO Marilynn Gardner. “It is impossible to discuss Chicago’s transformation without paying homage to Mayor Daley, whose determination, vision, and leadership spearheaded the Pier’s metamorphosis into the global destination that it is today. We are elated to have the opportunity to honor Mayor Daley’s enduring commitment to Chicago and Navy Pier.”

To honor Navy Pier’s colorful past and ever-evolving spirit, the gala will feature immersive entertainment, playful experiences, inspired by the Pier’s storied history, and a variety of delightful surprises. Guests will enjoy cocktails and dinner by J&L Catering, followed by a dazzling finale with Navy Pier’s award-winning fireworks and a custom 300-drone light display illuminating Chicago’s skyline, presented by Pyrotecnico.

As a nonprofit organization, Navy Pier depends on philanthropic contributions and corporate sponsorships to complement earned revenue and sustain its mission as The People’s Pier. Proceeds from the Gala support every aspect of operations — from keeping the lights on to producing and presenting more than 500 free cultural and community events each year. Through this vital support, Navy Pier continues to serve as Chicago’s ever-evolving cultural hub, celebrating the city’s architectural and artistic heritage while inspiring new experiences for residents and visitors alike.

A Chicago ExPIERience is made possible through the leadership of Gala Vice Chairs Cboe and Jennifer Steans & Jim Kastenholtz, and Presenting Sponsor BMO.
