Navy Pier Names Cory Jobe as Vice President of Communications

CHICAGO – Navy Pier announced today the appointment of Cory Jobe to the newly-established position of Vice President of Communications, effective Monday, January 7. The addition to the Pier’s administrative staff comes as Chicago’s iconic lakefront institution continues its growth and evolution as a nonprofit organization and world-class destination. In his new role, Jobe will be charged with leading the Pier’s marketing, branding and communications initiatives, and ultimately, helping draw more locals and tourists, alike, to experience the reimagined Navy Pier.

Jobe comes to the Pier with a wealth of experience in the tourism and hospitality industry, most recently serving as the Director of the Illinois Office of Tourism, where he has been responsible for leading the state’s tourism marketing and development efforts. Over his four-year stint there, Jobe worked in collaboration with tourism industry professionals across Illinois to promote domestic and international visitor travel and help grow the state’s tourism industry.

Prior to his appointment by Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner in January 2015, Jobe served as Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of the Illinois Comptroller from 2011 to 2015. He also served on the Springfield City Council as the elected Alderman for Springfield’s 6th Ward, an area with many notable tourism attractions, including the Dana Thomas House and the Lincoln Home National Historic Site. From 2006 to 2010, Jobe served as leader of the Peoples Economic Development Corporation, and as the Director of Economic Development for the Office of the Illinois State Treasurer from 1997 to 2006. Based in Chicago, he currently sits on the National Board of Directors for the U.S. Travel Association located in Washington, D.C. and on the Board of Directors for The Hope Institute for Children and Families in Chicago.
