Fans are invited to join in the annual celebration of Harry Caray’s extraordinary life at Harry Caray’s Tavern Navy Pier on March 29th to honor the 25th anniversary of Harry’s passing. Chicago will be in an election frenzy in March, and the theme of this year’s Toast is VOTE FOR HARRY: Re-Elect Harry Mayor of Rush Street.

Harry was elected Mayor of Rush Street August 24, 1980. Numerous establishments around Rush street campaigned for him and he won the election in a landslide. Mayor Jane Byrne acknowledged his victory by declaring that Harry was Mayor of Rush Street and she was Mayor of the rest of Chicago.

Twenty five years after Harry’s passing there’s a movement to re-elect Harry as Mayor of Rush Street to reaffirm forever that he is the one and only and there will never be another. Former Cubs pitcher Ryan Dempster will be campaigning as Harry. In addition to being a World Series champion and two-time All-Star, Dempster is a hilarious performer and does a  terrific Harry impersonation. Jeff Garlin, life-long Cub fan, multi-talented comedian and co-star of Curb Your Enthusiasm has accepted the role of Harry’s campaign manager.

Chicago Cubs legend Ryne Sandberg will lead the Toast at 5:30p with a rousing rendition of Harry’s favorite song, “Take Me out to the Ball Game.” Ryne will be joined by Dutchie Caray, Ron Kittle, Ryan Dempster, Jeff Garlin, Richard Dent, Bill Kurtis and others.  The polls will close at 5:30p and election results will be announced after the Toast followed by an election celebration song sung by the incomparable Jim Cornelison, anthem singer for the Blackhawks.

The Score’s Parkins & Spiegel Show will broadcast live from the Toast from 2p– 6p. Fans gathered for the Toast will be given campaign posters, larger-than-life Harry glasses and Harry face masks at Toast time. Fans who aren’t able to join the ceremony at Harry’s can use our app (link on to virtually don Harry glasses and listen live on 670AM in the Chicagoland area or tune in online to join in and raise a glass to Harry from anywhere in the world.

A slew of politicians, athletes and celebrities have already officially endorsed Harry’s re-election and the list continues to grow. To check out who’s endorsing Harry and to cast your vote click here.
