GENERAL NEW YEAR’S EVE GUEST ADVISORY

Navy Pier is proud to ring in the New Year with several events throughout the Pier, as well as its iconic midnight fireworks presented by Miller Lite!

With large crowds expected on New Year’s Eve, please plan your visit accordingly, including arriving early. For the most up-to-the-minute information regarding New Year’s Eve at Navy Pier, follow us on Twitter at @NavyPier.

For the safety and comfort of all our guests, please read the following important information and plan for your visit accordingly. 

All details of the guest advisory policies and guidelines are subject to change.

Navy Pier Operating Hours

Monday, December 31, 2018
Navy Pier Hours on New Year’s Eve: 10 a.m. – 12 a.m.
Fifth Third Bank Winter WonderFest Hours: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
New Year’s Eve Fireworks presented by Miller Lite at 12 a.m.

GUEST GUIDELINES AND CODE OF CONDUCT

In addition to the Navy Pier Code of Conduct, for the comfort and safety of all our guests, it is very important to also note and adhere to the following guidelines and policies:

  • SECUITY CHECKPOINTS: Guests must pass through a special security checkpoint before being allowed entry to Navy Pier. Multiple inspection points will be located throughout Navy Pier.
  • ADMISSION TO FIFTH THIRD BANK WINTER WONDERFEST: Guests 18 years and older must present a valid driver’s license, state ID or Military ID with their paid ticket to enter Fifth Third Bank Winter WonderFest. Any guest under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
  • POLICY ON BAGS / BACKPACKS / ETC.: Backpacks and any other larger bags of any kind are highly discouraged. ALL bags are subject to inspection.
  • PROHIBITED ITEMS / ACTIVITIES: Coolers, bikes, skateboards, rollerblades and skate shoes, and weapons of any kind are not allowed on Navy Pier. As always, NO outside alcohol may be brought to Navy Pier. The preceding prohibitions are in effect year-round, including New Year’s Eve.
  • PETS / ANIMALS: Only official service animals are allowed on Navy Pier. NO pets or other animals are permitted on Navy Pier on New Year’s Eve.
  • TAXIS/HIRED CAR DROP OFF: Those with reservations to the Chicago Resolution Gala in the Aon Grand Ballroom should direct their driver to entrance 2 at Navy Pier. All other NYE parties (Crystal Gardens NYE and Boat Cruises) should be direct their driver to entrance 1.
  • NO RE-ENTRY IF GATES ARE CLOSED: Upon closure due to crowd capacity, re-entry into Navy Pier is not permitted. If you leave Navy Pier property before the gates are closed, you are not guaranteed return access unless you have a ticket or official reservation. It is highly recommended that all parties remain together.

GUESTS WITH TICKETS / OFFICIAL RESERVATIONS

Guests with tickets or official reservations are strongly encouraged to arrive in advance of your event start time and allow extra travel time to Navy Pier.  

In the case of a closure due to crowd capacity, guests with advance tickets or official reservations will be directed to the appropriate area where they must check in and receive further instructions.

PARKING 

NAVY PIER PARKING GARAGES

Parking onsite at Navy Pier in the East and West parking garages (located at 600 E. Grand Ave.) can accommodate up to 1,500 vehicles. As these garages will fill quickly, plan accordingly and familiarize yourself with the alternate parking information below. To ensure the quickest exit from Navy Pier garages, it is highly recommended that you pay for parking at the Automated Pay Stations located throughout the Pier immediately after you park and prior to walking out onto Navy Pier. Follow @NavyPier on Twitter for alerts on when garages are full.

ALTERNATE SPECIAL RATE PARKING GARAGES

Save time and money by using our official alternate self-parking garages at Grand Plaza Park, Ogden Plaza Self Park and Millennium Park Garages. All garages charge a $15.00 flat rate WITH NAVY PIER VALIDATION. Parking at these garages is subject to availability.

Grand Plaza Park (540 N. State) – enter from Grand or Ohio Streets

  • Getting to Navy Pier from Grand Plaza Park: Board the Navy Pier Trolley from the west side of State Street between Grand and Illinois or on Illinois just east of State. The trolley runs from 10 a.m. – 2 a.m.
  • Validating your Parking for Grand Plaza Park: Do not pay in advance for parking at the garage. Bring your parking ticket with you and present it at the Navy Pier Guest Services table to receive the $15 special parking rate.*

Ogden Plaza Self Park (300 E. North Water Street) – from Illinois Street turn right on New Street or McClurg and turn right on E. North Water

  • Getting to Navy Pier from Ogden Plaza Self Park: Board the Navy Pier Trolley on Illinois Street at McClurg or walk four blocks east on Illinois to Navy Pier. The trolley runs from 10 a.m. – 2 a.m.
  • Validating your Parking at Ogden Plaza Self Park: Do not pay in advance for parking at the garage. Bring your parking ticket with you and present it at the Navy Pier Guest Services table to receive the $15 special parking rate.*

Millennium Park Garage (5 S. Columbus Dr.) – enter from Columbus Drive, north of Monroe St. or south of Randolph St., or lower Randolph St.

  • Getting to Navy Pier from Millennium Park Garage: Board the Navy Pier Trolley from the north side of Monroe Street between Michigan Ave. and Columbus Dr
  • Validating your Parking at Millennium Park Garage: Do not pay in advance for parking. Present your parking ticket at the Navy Pier Guest Services desk for validation to receive the $15 discounted parking rate.*

The $15 alternate special parking offer is valid year-round at the Grand Plaza Park, Ogden Plaza Self Park and Millennium Park garages. Must obtain validation in order to receive the special rate. Navy Pier Guest Services validates for cars parked at Grand Plaza Park, Ogden Plaza Self Park and Millennium Park garages ONLY. Validation rate provides 12 hours of parking in the Grand Plaza Park, Ogden Plaza Self Park and Millennium Park garages. The alternate parking special rate cannot be applied to Navy Pier East or West Garages (600 E. Grand Ave).

Public Transportation

CTA BUSES

CTA buses will remain at their normal location near the main entrance of Navy Pier. For exact information on the pick-up location for specific CTA bus numbers and routes, click here.  

Ring in this New Year’s Eve with Miller Lite Free Rides®, sponsored by Miller Lite. The free service is available on all Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) train and bus routes from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. starting Sunday, Dec. 31. This is the sixth year Miller Lite has partnered with the CTA to provide Chicago residents and visitors free and safe transportation on New Year’s Eve.

TAXIS, HIRED CARS, AND RIDESHARE

Taxis and hired cars will remain at their normal stop near the main entrance of Navy Pier. Look for signs that will direct you where to meet a taxi or hired car, and follow @NavyPier on Twitter for any additional alerts and information when garages are full.

Those with reservations to the Chicago Resolution Gala in the Aon Grand Ballroom should direct their driver to entrance 2. All other NYE parties (Crystal Gardens NYE and Boat Cruises) should be direct their driver to entrance 1.

Rideshare users are encouraged to make use of Navy Pier’s designated rideshare pick-up and drop-off areas, located at the Navy Pier main entrace (west), Mid. Parking Circle (central), and East Parking Circle (east). See your preferred rideshare app for additional information.
