Water Colors
Back on the Block: Greg Spero Inspired by the Works of Quincy Jones

6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Free and open to the public!

Pianist Greg Spero, a member of the dynamic new generation of musical transformers returns to Chicago with a project that fuses past traditions into the province of hip hop—pioneered by the groundbreaking masterpiece produced by Quincy Jones.  Jones’ Back on the Block recoding captured the resonance of the emerging hip hop and rap scene with the improvisational foundation built by the masters of Bebop. Spero gathers together Chicagoans Irvin Pierce on saxophone, Indian percussionist Kalyan Pathak on tablas and percussion and Jeremiah Hunt on bass with L.A. drummer Mike Smith and some surprise special guests.
