Fox Crossing Stringband

Since forming in November of 2016, this all-female bluegrass group from Chicago has been winning hearts with their beautiful harmonies, entertaining stage presence, and original songwriting. The ladies of Fox Crossing Stringband pair powerful vocals with the driving rhythm of dobro, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, guitar, and upright bass. Son Monarcas is a Latin Folk Fusion ensemble led by Mercedes Inez Martinez and Irekani Ferreyra. Like that of the Monarch Butterfly, they take you on a musical migration from the USA to Latin America by fusing indie soul with traditional son & cumbia. Son Monarcas is comprised of musicians who are well-versed in the Afro-Mestizo genres of folk music from Latin America and blend the traditional with the contemporary by creating original compositions which include influences of Mexican Son, Cumbia, Jazz and Indie Soul music in English and Spanish. Presented by Paul M. Angell Family Foundation, Sequence Ch!cago is a free performance series celebrating local artists, musicians and cultural organizations and showcasing their works. Navy Pier will display Chicago’s diverse arts scene over the course of 9 dates this fall and winter. All performances are free and open to the public.
