Join us in the Miller Lite Beer Garden for a free, all-ages show with dance and blues band AJ Ghent, and special guests, Wild Adriatic and Local Motive, part of Navy Pier’s free music and dance series, Live on the Lake!
9pm – 10:10pm & 10:25pm – 11:30pm
5:30pm – 6:30pm & 7pm – 8pm
2pm – 3pm & 3:30pm – 4:30pm
AJ Ghent [J-ent] is all about energy: musically, physically and spiritually. He takes his family’s heirloom “the sacred steel sound” and brings to a broader audience, by standing up: which allows him more freedom in performing and connecting with others. Over the years, Ghent has shared music with Zac Brown, Dave Grohl, and legendary freeform artist, Colonel Bruce Hampton. Ghent’s new creation, THE NEO BLUES PROJECT (March 2018) debut at #7 on the Blues Billboard Charts, and is filled with everything that it should be: grooves, riffs and above all, message.
With the power trio’s newest album, Feel, bandmates Travis Gray, Rich Derbyshire, and Mateo Vosganian update the sound of their influences — from Seventies rock to Motown to soul — for a contemporary audience, taking influence from the past but never losing sight of the present.
Local Motive performances are filled with lyrical messages, irresistible soulful melodies, and the spirit of the old-school rhythm & blues. Joy emanates from the stage when this talented collective of musicians plays their blend of classic soul, Motown, funk, & old-fashioned rock ‘n’ roll.
This free, all ages concert is presented as part of Live on the Lake!, Navy Pier’s free summer music series in the Miller Lite Beer Garden.
