Chicago Christmas Ship

Chicago Christmas Ship

Chicago's Christmas Ship, loaded with over 1,200 Christmas trees, will dock at Navy Pier December 6 & 7, and allow guests free public tours of the ship.

Chicago Christmas Ship Returns to Navy Pier!

For the twentieth consecutive year, members of Chicago’s maritime community and the U.S. Coast Guard will reenact a Chicago tradition dating back to the late 1800s, Friday and Saturday, at Navy Pier.

The Coast Guard cutter Mackinaw, serving as this year’s “Christmas Ship” and loaded with more than 1,200 Christmas trees for needy families in Chicago, will be arriving at the west end of the Pier, Friday, at 8 a.m.

The trees, purchased by the Chicago's Christmas Ship Committee through private donations, will be offloaded Saturday beginning at 8:30 a.m. by members of the Coast Guard and volunteers from local youth groups before a public ceremony at 10 a.m. The trees will then be distributed to community organizations, already chosen and pre-selected by Ada S. McKinley Community Services.

Public Tour Hours

The Coast Guard ship will be open for free public tours on Friday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and on Saturday from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
