Crustacean Invasion: Great American Lobster Fest Coming to Navy Pier

Fresh seafood, live music, warm sun and an abundance of melted butter are just a handful of things best suited to accompany any coastal summer weekend. And for all of this and more on the shores of the Midwest, look no further than Chicago’s Navy Pier. The Great American Lobster Fest, the first outdoor festival of its kind, will be in full swing from August 16-17, alongside the Annual Air and Water Show, with everything you need to bring a little salt water to the banks of Lake Michigan.

Fresh Lobster

If lobster is what you’re after, lobster is what you’ll get. New England Seafood Company’s family dock in Boston will be providing the seafood, shipped in fresh daily. You’ll be able to fill up on the star of the festival whether stuffed inside a roll, taco, or mac and cheese. Or keep it simple and enjoy a 1 ¼ lb. live steamed lobster paired with Pretzel Crisps, watermelon, and plenty of butter dipping sauce (naturally). If seafood is not your thing, you’ll also find plenty of other catered items, including vegetarian options.

Amazing Sounds

With lobster delicacies in hand, two stages hosting 20 bands will be ready to get you moving. Enjoy the ever-energetic sounds of Chicago band Local H on Saturday along with Lance Lipinsky & the Lovers, Netherfriends, and Akasha to name a few.  Then on Sunday, Think Floyd USA pays tribute to Pink Floyd. Other bands set to cap off Sunday festivities will include Kiss Army (Kiss tribute), Trippin Billies (Dave Matthews Band tribute), White Mystery, and Evenflow (Pearl Jam tribute).

A number of vendors will be onsite with available merchandise. From clothing to jewelry, you’ll be sure to find something to commemorate the weekend. Don’t let that sunburn be the closest you get to lobster this summer. Tickets must be purchased for entry, so grab your tickets to The Great American Lobster Fest today and we’ll see you by the water!
